Cable insulation extrusion towers
We all see here on the Internet (LinkedIn etc) the unspoken competition between different manufacturers of subsea cables. These companies build concrete towers in which the process of applying insulation to the cable core takes place. They always mention the height of the tower, and every new tower is more and more high. It looks like a race.
Overhead line (OHL) specialists are looking at this “race” with a smile, because OHL’s towers are really high, reaching a height of 300-400 m, especially when crossing large water obstacles. In this regard, if we’re talking about height, cable manufacturers should recognize that they cannot compete with overhead lines yet. In this “game” there is a need to come up with some other indicator besides height. Let it be comfort and safety for employees.

Working in a cable tower guarantee:
1) A warm workplace, all year round (no rain/snow/wind, no crazy birds).
2) Fast and comfortable elevator (no need to climb up and down).
3) Good Wi-Fi and a free hand to use a mobile phone.
Knowing 1-2-3, cable towers are definitely better than OHL’s towers! Even though cable towers are lower…
